Fantastic week spent at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival – it’s the most prestigious short film festival in the world, and my film ‘Ekki Mukk’ was selected for its experimental section, the Lab. The British Council kindly helped get me out there to meet other filmmakers, film festivals and so on, thanks to their shorts support scheme.
This is where the films mainly show. My film was showing 8 times to the public over the festival! It was a revelation to me, watching the film with sold out audiences of local people. It was the first time I had seen it projected in 5.1 sound, and it makes the film positively epic! It really makes a difference, I wish it was only ever shown like this now!
Each morning film makers gathered to discus their films at an event called the Expresso (free coffee was available!). And this is me holding forth about snails, foxes, life, death… the usual.
One of the critics asked me about my love for snails, as shown in the film… I feel slightly guilty to include the following pic of snails in garlic butter. That was the other great thing about Clermont-Ferrand… Amazing food! Yum!
